FRANKENSTEIN: Lancaster Footlights Present
Lancaster Footlights present FRANKENSTEIN By Nick Dear Based on the novel by Mary Shelley. When Frankenstein meets his creation for the first time, he is consumed by horror and disgust. Abandoning the Creature, he leaves him to navigate a world filled with prejudice and hostility. The Creature’s child-like innocence cannot withstand the rejection he faces, and his innate goodness gives way to a dark and vengeful malevolence. Determined to make his creator pay, the Creature sets out on a terrifying journey of revenge, seeking a single hope: a deal with Frankenstein that could mean his salvation. This gripping and unsettling Gothic tale explores enduring themes of scientific and medical responsibility, parental neglect, and the fragile boundary between good and evil. Infused with Steampunk and Gothic aesthetics, this production promises a theatrical experience that is as visually striking as it is emotionally powerful. Lancaster Footlights’ licence to present Nick Dear’s version of FRANKENSTEIN, from the novel by Mary Shelley, is granted by Rosica Colin Limited, London. Content Warning: This production includes a depiction of sexual violence. Age 15+

Grace Petrie
For a decade and a half, Grace Petrie has been one of the UK's most urgent and passionate songwriters. Coming of age amidst the coalition government, her politically charged folk music quickly gained national attention and propelled her to the main stages of folk festivals from Cambridge to Vancouver to the Blue Mountains of Australia. An irrepressible live performer, Grace has toured relentlessly to build loyal audiences in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as providing tour support for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner and Emmy-winner Hannah Gadsby. She has appeared on ITVX, Channel 4, Sky Arts, BBC Radio 2's Folk Show and been a regular guest on The Guilty Feminist podcast, and performed live BBC sessions for Tom Robinson (6music) and Jo Whiley (Radio 2). The release of 2024's Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, topped the UK folk chart and cemented her place as one of Britain's most respected independent artists. In 2026 she is exploring the stripped back nature of folk songwriting once again, performing a show of two halves that encompasses both an intimate solo set, and a career-retrospective full band performance featuring songs from across her sixteen-year catalogue. Peter Fillingham: Fruit Salad
In a year of celebrating sculpture, Lancaster Arts is delighted to invite renowned sculptor, Peter Fillingham to fill the Peter Scott Gallery with an explosion of colour. Fruit Salad brings together a collection of new and previously exhibited works that playfully explore ideas of dissent, and the vital role that art has in the world right now, valuing the unconventional and unruly, the vulnerable, makeshift and unfixed. Peter employs colour in every aspect of his work, often "found" colour, gently reminding us that the image of a glorious past is, indeed, a fantasy. The reality is one of multiplicity, joyful artifice and eccentricity. He hands us a fruit salad – messy, colourful and provocative. Peter has exhibited internationally and in the UK, often in project or artist-run spaces, village halls and places where art is integrated into everyday life. He is a collaborative artist who has worked with many different creative figures such as Tacita Dean, Rasheed Araeen, Charlotte Moth and Derek Jarman. "Peter loves to tell stories. He is a confluence of the oral traditions of both his parents, and of high and low art…as well as a great deal of humour and playfulness, camaraderie and spirit, sometimes mixed with a touch of whimsy." Peter Fillingham: Fruit Salad
He is a confluence of the oral traditions of both his parents, and of high and low art…as well as a great deal of humour and playfulness, camaraderie and spirit, sometimes mixed with a touch of whimsy." Tacita Dean, artist Please join us for our Season Celebration in the Peter Scott Gallery on 5 November at 5.30pm.
He is a confluence of the oral traditions of both his parents, and of high and low art…as well as a great deal of humour and playfulness, camaraderie and spirit, sometimes mixed with a touch of whimsy."
